The purposes of this research were 1) to develop intervention tools for enhancing self-help skills for children with cerebral palsy and 2) to determine their qualities for use. The tools consisted of 1) the self-help skills assessment form and 2) the lesson plans for enhancing self-help skills. The sample used in this study were consisting of 1) a collection of documents and related researches 2) five professionals who have experience working with children with special needs for at least five years; and were selected by purposive sampling. The intervention tools were developed based on an integration of studying documents and research involving children with cerebral palsy, self-help skills for children with special needs and four special education curriculums. This study was validated by studying construct validity by using the index of congruence (IOC) and by studying the reliability of the assessment form by using the reliability of the observers (Inter-Rater Reliability) with Hoyt's ANOVA procedure. The research results were as following 1) the index of congruence (IOC) of the self-help skills assessment form was between 0.80 -1.00 and the construct validity by using the reliability of the observers (Inter-Rater Reliability) was 1.00. 2) The 12 lesson plans for enhancing self-help skills of children with cerebral palsy in 3 areas: 1) eating and drinking, 2) dressing, and 3) personal hygiene revealed that the index of congruence (IOC) was between 0.60 -1.00. Given that the validity and reliability of the intervention tools are strong. Therefore, these results could be used as an instrument for enhancing self-help skills for children with cerebral palsy.
