Bang Chang Chili

Common name: Chili spur pepper, Capsiums, Chillics, Green pepper, Paprika Tabasco pepper, Cayenne pepper, Chili, Thai dragon Chile, Spur pepper, Long cayenne pepper

Scientific name:Capsicum annuum L. (Capsicum annuum var. acuminatum Fingerh.) It is in the eggplant family.

It has been imported to be planted and propagated to harvest and sell in Thailand since ancient times. It is classified as a small shrub, approximately 1-3 years old, with a height of approximately 0.3-1.2 meters. The trunk is brittle and breaks easily. The branches are dense and form a bush. The trunk bark is smooth and brown. Young branches are square. Propagated using seeds. Planting outdoors is good because water doesn't flood. Grows well in loose, well-drained soil or if planted on termite nest soil, it will last a long time. Can be found in every region in Thailand. But it can be found mostly in the northern region and Bangkok.

Chili pepper leaves are single leaves. They come out in alternating order or opposite each other. Some varieties are produced in pairs. The leaves are heart-shaped, slender, oval, lanceolate, or oblong-oval. The leaf tip is pointed and the leaf base is pointed or slightly concave. The edge of the leaf is smooth. The leaves are approximately 2.5-4 centimeters wide and 3-10 centimeters long. The leaf blades are dark green, the leaf texture is soft, and the back and underside are smooth.

Chili pepper flowers Flowers bloom in bouquets or single flowers pointing upwards. They emerge in leaf axils and at the tips of branches. The flowers are white or greenish-white with 5 petals. The base of the petals are connected together. The calyx and base are joined together at the cut or 5-wavy tip. The flower has 5 stamens and can bloom throughout the year.

Chili pepper fruit: The shape of the fruit is round and long. The tip of the fruit is pointed. The young fruit is dark green. When mature, it will change to orange and red. The fruit's surface is shiny and the fruit's tip is pointed up. The fruit has a moderately spicy taste. The seeds are flat and smooth. Yellow or off-white And there are a lot of them. Can bear fruit throughout the year.
