Every year, Chakri Day is the day when Thai people commemorate the great kindness of King Buddha Yodfa Chulalok the Great (Rama I), the first monarch of the Chakri Dynasty of Rattanakosin.

His Majesty the King will travel to the Royal Monument at the foot of Phra Phutthayotfa Bridge, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok, for the royal ceremony of King Rama I the Great Day and the Chakri Dynasty Memorial Day, which falls on April 6 of every year.

It is a tradition for the Prime Minister, ministers, government and private agencies, civil servants, and the general public to participate in the wreath-laying ceremony on Chakri Day, while the public will decorate their homes with the national flag to commemorate the great kindness of King Rama I.
