The importance of Makha Bucha Day and the history of Makha Bucha Day

         On Makha Bucha Day, 4 miraculous events occurred at the same time:


          1. That day falls on the full moon day, 15th day of the 3rd lunar month, when the moon eats Makha auspicious time.

          2. There were 1,250 monks who gathered together without an appointment at Weluwan Temple, Rajgir, Bihar, to pay homage to the Lord Buddha.

         3. All the monks who came to the meeting were Arahants who had attained the 6 powers of knowledge.

        4. All monks receive direct ordination from the Buddha or "Ehi Bhikkhu Upasampada".


         And because of the 4 miraculous events above Make Makha Bucha Day It can be called another name. "Chaturangkasannibat Day" which the word "Chaturangkasannibat" has the meaning according to the separation of words is

          - Chatur means 4

          - Ong means part.

          - Sanibat means meeting.


   Therefore, "Chaturangkasanibat" means "Meeting with the 4 elements" itself. Makha Bucha Day is considered a Dhamma day. While Visakha Bucha Day is considered to be Buddha Day. As for Asarnha Bucha Day It's Buddhist monk's day.
