Strategic Environmental Assessment (sea) of Trat Special Economic Zone Development

       The research to study alternatives at the strategic level in the development of special economic zones assess the alternatives in terms of economic, social and environmental impacts 3 strategic development options: (1) Implementation of all plans and strategies, consisting of 4 target tasks; (2) focussing on the implementation of certain plans and strategies, consisting of 3 target tasks, and (3) focussing on the implementation of certain plans and strategies, consisting of 2 target tasks. This strategic environmental assessment employed the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) in this Alternative 1: Implementation of all proposed plans and strategies is the most appropriate alternatives. As it would increase economic and social opportunities in the area and has less negative impact on the environment. Suggestions to mitigate the adverse impacts are related agencies, local authorities and developers should pay attention to the relevant regulations and seriously monitor the operations, and the developers should be concerned with the value of natural resources and the environment equal to their profits in order to achieve the sustainable development.
