A study of opinions about the impact of quarry that affects nearby communities Takua Thung District, Phang Nga Province has the following objectives: 1) Study the opinions of the people regarding the economic, social and environmental impacts from the quarry; 2) study the prevention and resolution methods for the communities in the vicinity of the quarry. The sample was collected from 217 households in a radius of 3 kilometers around the quarry. Data were collected via a 4-part questionnaire. Statistics used for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation.
The results of the opinion were as follows: 1) It was found that the issue of stone mining caused the community to receive more financial support for public benefit activities. Most of them were respondents within 2 kilometers, with the highest average ( = 3.97, S.D. = 0.19) The opinions are at a high level. 2) It was found that the truck drivers employed by the mines often drive too fast. Most of the respondents within 1 kilometer had the highest mean ( = 3.23, S.D. = 0.67). The opinions were at a medium level. 3) It was found that rubble ejected from stone transportation was an issue, as it could cause damage to life and property. Most of the respondents within 2 kilometers have the highest average ( = 3.83, S.D. = 0.54). The opinions are high and the results of the study of guidelines for preventing and solving basic problems of the community found that nearly all (95.4%) of the respondents want the quarry operators to arrange water trucks to spray dust on the roads every day. The rest (2.76%) wanted quarry control and speed control of the stone trucks of other companies that bought stones from the quarry.
